This is a comedy, a comedy meant to entertain. There are so many jokes in this movie, you don't even have a chance to rest before the next one comes along. It's stupid, sure, but it's so hilarious, you don't care. From the supporting cast and the cameo's everyone does a top notch job. By having a showdown dodgeball competition against Globo Gym. But Peter's boyish charms win her over and Kate joins his team of social rejects to beat the odds, and their own ineptitude,to try to save Average Joe's. A foreclosing bank has stationed attorney Kate Veatch inside Average Joe's to finalize Globo 's takeover of the gym. White intends to take over Average Joe's, and Peter's non-existent bookkeeping is making it all too easy for him. Peter's humble gym catches the eye of White Goodman, the power-mullet-sporting, Fu-Manchu-d, egomaniacal owner of Globo Gym, a gleaming monolith of fitness. The facility's ecclectic clientele of decidedly less-than-average Joes is comprised of: a self-styled pirate a scrawny nerd who dreams of impressing an unattainable cheerleader an obsessive aficionado of obscure sports a dim-witted young man and a cocky know-it-all who, of course, really knows nothing. ![]() Peter LaFleur is a charismatic underachiever and proprietor of a rundown gym called Average Joe's. Rawson Marshall Thurber's debut feature is a highly assured work, which features hilarious cameos from Chuck Norris, Lance Armstrong, David Hasselhoff, and William Shatner. As Peter and his ragtag team make their way to the championship in Las Vegas, they must contend with White, who has assembled a team of his very own. Fortunately for Peter, he finds a coach for his team: the hardheaded, ex-superstar Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn). Potential salvation arrives in the form of a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament, but conquering a sport one hasn't played in several decades isn't such an easy feat. La Fleur learns from a beautiful attorney (Christine Taylor) that if he doesn't come up with $50,000 in 30 days, his career running a gym will be over. ![]() White Goodman (Stiller), Globo Gym's main spokesman, is a preposterously vain egomaniac on the cusp of taking over La Fleur's failing business. Peter La Fleur (Vaughn) owns the decrepit Average Joe's gym, which has been losing its clients ever since the glitzy Globo Gym opened up across the street. While hilariously satirizing modern-day gym culture, the film also celebrates a sport that has previously been relegated to the elementary school playground. ![]()
